I like to work from life as much as possible. When someone poses for a portrait, we set aside a special time in our busy lives to create an artwork and celebrate a special person.

My clients usually pose for three to six sittings at my Brooklyn studio or in their location. Each session lasts approximately two hours. At the first session, I learn about the client, and we explore clothing, setting, composition, and where the artwork will be hung.  Two or three sessions will be spent in developing drawings and the oil portrait.  I use drawings and photographs to expedite the process as much as possible. When the picture is near completion, we get together once more for final touches and corrections.

Portrait drawings can be completed from life in one or two sessions. Drawings of young children are created from photos I shoot at my studio, or at the client’s location. I love to spend a little time with your child to get to know her special looks and personality.
